First You must log in to your Router

  1. In the web browser address bar type http://192.168.1.1. You can also try http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.2.1.
  2. Enter your router username and password. Usually the default username and password is “admin”.

Secondly Add Static Routers

  1. Take note of your router IP and then click on “LAN”
  2. Click “Route”
  3. Set ‘Enable static routes’ by clicking ‘Yes’

Add the following to the Route List:

  • Network/Host IP: 8.8.8.8
  • Netmask: 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway: your router IP
  • Metric: 2
  • Interface: LAN or LAN & Wireless
  1. Click on ‘Add’
  2. Repeat Set ‘Enable static routes’ by clicking ‘Yes’ and Click on ‘Add’ for the following routes for different hosts:
  • Network/Host IP: 8.8.4.4
  • Netmask: 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway:your router IP
  • Metric: 2
  • Interface:LAN or LAN & Wireless
  • Network/Host IP: 208.67.222.222
  • Netmask: 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway:your router IP
  • Metric: 2
  • Interface:LAN or LAN & Wireless
  • Network/Host IP: 209.244.0.3
  • Netmask: 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway:your router IP
  • Metric: 2
  • Interface:LAN or LAN & Wireless
  1. Click on ‘Apply

Then Proceed to Ping Test

  1. Open the Command Prompt or Terminal
  • For Windows: Press the Windows Key AND the R Key at the same time on your keyboard. Type in cmd and press Enter.
  • Mac OSX: In the top right area of your display screen, where the search box is, type in Terminal and open the program.
  1. Run the following commands:
  • Type in:ping 8.8.8.8
  • Type in:ping 208.67.222.222
  • Type in:ping 209.244.0.3

Note: The ping tests above should not succeed. If any of them provide you with a result, examine your static routes or restart the wireless router and try this step again until the ping don’t succeed. You might also need to use a different gateway IP such as 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.253. Basically any inaccessible IP that the wireless router allows should function

Finally turn off your device, unplug the power cable from the router and wait for 30 seconds. Plug in router and turn on device.
